Haiku Union Shodo, Kigo, Sumie exhibition [Stara Zagora 2025]
On the 20th of February 2025, I joined the Bulgarian haiku union, at that point becoming the youngest member to ever join the union in its year long history. Since then I have participated in multiple exhibitions and events related to the Haiku union. The biggest honor I have been given by the haiku union, was to translate and make the traditional Japanese "Shugibukuro・祝儀袋" card given to the Japanese embassy in Bulgaria as a gift from the union. In many ways I have become the unions main graphic designer, having done an overhaul in our graphic identity, from the 2026 calendar, to the new haiku union leaflet I've tried my best to bring the rich tradition of haiku and the union into the modern age.

At age 19, with a strong portfolio I became the youngest Bulgarian teacher at the time. As part of the team at JCC Kokoro I slowly developed my own method for teaching Japanese. Kokoro has molded me from a 19 year old starry eyed highschooler, to a professional within my field. I am incredibly grateful to the team of JCC Kokoro for accepting me as one of their own. I am very happy and proud to be a teacher at an institution that blends both traditional Japanese aesthetics and culture with innovative and unorthodox highly effective teaching tactics.
Born in Varna, a city at the black sea cost, I'm Vikei Viktor Zhelev (美景ゼレブ).
I'm a gothic calligrapher, Japanese culture communicator, educator and calligrapher. I graduated graphic design at the Professional Technics Highschool in Varna and moved to the capital of Bulgaria to work as a Japanologist. I studied Japanese two years on my own and then under Satori center for a short period of time, before finally studying under retired Sofia university Japanology lecturer Svetlana Ivanova, author of "The restoration Meiji". I studied calligraphy for years on my own, before becoming a part of the team at JCC Kokoro, where I have been studying under Bulgarian calligraphy master Yoanna Dokova.
